Our Harnesses

Why are your harnesses different to others on the market?

Our harnesses are designed specifically for dachshunds and similar long-bodied breeds.

Unlike many standard harnesses, our designs feature a longer chest plate, which helps provide better coverage and support for a dachshund’s deeper chest and unique body shape. This reduces rubbing, improves comfort, and allows for a more secure fit compared to shorter, standard-cut harnesses.

Because of this design difference, our harnesses may fit differently to other brands — which is why we always recommend choosing a size based on your dog’s measurements rather than a size worn in a standard harness.

Are all your harnesses longer in the chest plate?

Yes. Our harnesses are designed with a longer chest plate as a standard feature, as this better suits the shape of dachshunds and helps improve overall fit and comfort.

As we continue to expand our range, you may see variations in style or construction, but our focus on dachshund-appropriate fit, including chest coverage, remains central to our designs.

If you’re unsure whether a particular harness style is right for your pup, feel free to reach out via website chat, email, or social media DMs and we’ll happily help.

What’s the difference between overhead harnesses and step-in harnesses?

Overhead harnesses are slipped over your dog’s head and secured around the body. They’re lightweight, secure, and a popular choice for pups who are comfortable with harnesses being put on over their head.

Step-in harnesses allow your dog to step into the harness before it’s secured, avoiding the need to go over the head. These are often preferred for dogs who are sensitive around the head or neck, or who find overhead harnesses uncomfortable.

We currently offer overhead-style harnesses, with step-in harnesses planned for release in 2026.

What’s the difference between your neoprene and tweed harnesses?

Both our Neoprene and Tweed harnesses feature a mesh lining to help promote airflow and keep your pup comfortable.

Neoprene harnesses are lightweight, soft, and flexible, making them ideal for everyday wear and active use. They’re quick-drying, easy to clean, and a great option for warmer weather or dogs who prefer a softer, more forgiving fit.

Tweed harnesses offer a more structured, classic look and are made from a wool-based fabric. While they also include a mesh lining, tweed is naturally warmer and a stiffer, heavier material compared to neoprene.

If your pup is between sizes, you may find that sizing up in a tweed harness provides a more comfortable fit due to the firmer construction, whereas neoprene’s flexibility allows for a bit more give.

If you’re unsure which style or size is best for your dog, please reach out via website chat, email, or social media DMs, we’re always happy to help.

Sizing

What makes your sizing different from other brands?

We design everything specifically for dachshunds. That means longer chest lengths, thoughtful placements of straps and buckles, and fits that actually stay secure without digging into awkward spots. No more Houdini escapes or uncomfortable waddles.

Why do you only have 3 or 4 sizes? (Harnesses, Collars, Waterproof Jackets)

Because dachshunds aren’t one-size-fits-all—but they’re also not every size! Our sizing range was developed from real-world measurements of dachshunds of all shapes and sizes. Rather than a dozen generic sizes, we focused on three highly specific fits that cater to most dachshund body types—from teeny sausages to full-sized standards. Fewer sizes = more accurate fit for doxies (and less confusion!).

I don’t have a dachshund—will this fit my dog?

It might! While our products are designed especially for dachshunds, they also work well for other long-bodied or deep-chested breeds like Chihuahuas, Italian Greyhounds, or even Frenchies and Cavoodles depending on proportions. The best way to know? Measure your pup’s neck and chest and check them against our sizing chart. If the measurements line up, you’re good to go!

I’ve purchased a standard harness from a different brand before in a certain size. Will my pup be the same size in your harnesses?

Not always.

Our harnesses are designed specifically for dachshunds and feature a longer chest plate than standard-cut harnesses. This provides more room and support for your pup’s chest, which means they may fit differently to harnesses from other brands.

In many cases, dogs who wear a certain size in a standard harness may actually need to size down in our harnesses due to the extra chest coverage our design offers.

What if my pup is between sizes?

If your pup falls between sizes, we generally recommend choosing the size that best matches your dog’s chest measurement, as this is usually the most important factor for fit.

I’m about to pick up my new dachshund puppy and want to start harness training early. What size should I choose?

For dachshund puppies, XXS is always the correct starting size in our range.

That said, at around 8–12 weeks of age, many dachshund puppies haven’t yet developed their deeper chest, so our harnesses may still be a little large initially, even in XXS. This is completely normal, and most pups grow into their harness as their chest develops.

We strongly recommend reaching out to us before ordering so we can help guide you on the best option for your puppy’s current stage.

Where can I find your sizing chart?

Each product page includes a sizing chart in the images and description. You can also check our full sizing guides (with videos) in our Fit + Care Guide Menu at the top of our website.

Fitment

How should the harness fit?

Visit our comprehensive guide HERE

Your pup’s harness should:

  • Sit snugly around the base of the neck and chest, without cutting in or restricting movement
  • Allow two fingers of space between the straps and your dog’s body
  • Sit across the chest plate, not the throat
  • Be adjusted so the waist clip sits 2-3 fingers-width back from their front legs, and the front D-ring (if using it) sits on the centre of the chest

A well-fitted harness won’t shift side-to-side, wont interfere with their leg movement, and should stay put during walkies—even zoomies.

How should the collar fit?

Visit our comprehensive guide HERE

Your pup’s collar should:

  • Sit comfortably around the neck, with two fingers of space between the collar and your dog’s neck
  • Not ride up onto the throat or sit too low on the shoulders
  • Be snug enough that it won’t slip over the head, but loose enough not to dig in

We recommend using collars for ID tags and cute photos, but for walks, our harnesses are best for safety and comfort.

How should your jackets fit?

Visit our comprehensive guide HERE

Our jackets are designed for longer torsos and low bellies—so no wet tummies on winter walks. If your pup is in between sizes, go up for layering comfort.

  • Jackets are designed to go over top of your harness (hole provided at the neck area for leash clip)
  • Wool jumpers are designed to go under your harness.
