Some dachshunds wiggle their way into your heart… and some wedge themselves in so tightly that they never leave. That’s exactly what happened when Murphy arrived in his forever home.
Murphy was supposed to be a short-term foster. He came to Iffy (yes, our very own Registered Veterinary Technician who endorses Lazy Doxie Co.) just before Christmas last year. This tiny cleft palate pup needed a safe place to recover from surgery. But by the very next day, Mokie the husky had claimed Murphy as her new best friend. One cuddle session later, and—foster fail! Murphy wasn’t going anywhere.

Now a full-fledged member of the family, Murphy is living his best dachshund life. He loves tagging along with Iffy to work, soaking up cuddles from staff and students, riding shotgun in her car (but not her husband’s—diesel engines are too noisy for his liking), and heading out to markets and mini adventures where he can make new friends. Social butterfly? Absolutely.
When it comes to food, Murphy’s all about instant gratification. Carrots and cucumbers? Yes, please. Puzzle feeders? Hard pass. He’ll use them if he has to, but let’s just say patience is not his virtue.
Like many doxies, Murphy has a few dislikes too. The neighbour’s cat tops the list (especially when it chases away Murphy’s favourite birds), and so did his old harness—until he switched to his Lazy Doxie Co. one. No more armpit rub, no more discomfort, just freedom to strut around in style.
And why does Iffy choose Lazy Doxie Co.?
"You guys obviously know dachshunds. You know what they like, what they need, what’s comfortable for their long backs and suitable for their lifestyles. We also love you because you’re dachshund parents yourselves—you get us in a way other dog owners don’t 😂"
